Literally covering the top side of this specimen is classic Thunder Bay Amethyst, all draped over a robust matrix of immense Calcite rhombohedrons. Each of the Amethyst crystals have a highly vitreous luster and the locality's signature blend of deep purple color and accenting rust-red Hematite inclusions. The sides of the specimen (particularly the rear view) expose the underlying Calcite rhombohedrons and show additional layers of drusy Quartz that underline the main bed of Amethyst.
