Description

Lapidary

Condor Agate
Andes Mountains
Mendoza Province
Argentina

This Condor Agate was painstakingly collected from the Agate beds high above Patagonia. This gorgeous Agate has been cut and polished to reveal bright alternating bands of Chalcedony. The bands are believed to have been created over geological epochs, and one theory is the thickness and color represent seasonal variations. The center pocket is solid with a mossy appearance, which can be found with this variety. Emanating outward from this central point are contouring bands of color, including bright orange, red, yellow, brown, black, blue, and light green. On the reverse side is a resemblance to the geological landscape in which they are recovered, characterized by a thin layer of Rhyolite' skin.' The combination of color and texture is striking, making for one most incredible offering.
Measurements: 5.43 x 3.78 x 2.45 inches (13.78 x 9.60 x 6.22 cm)
