Description

Sikhote-Alin Meteorite Pendant
Artist: Lisa Morrison
Iron, IIAB
Maritime Territory, Siberia, Russia - (46°09'36"N, 134° 39'12"E)
Witnessed Fall: February 12, 1947, 10:30 am local time

This extremely "cool" and out-of-this-world piece of jewelry is anchored by a spectacular and wonderful regmaglypted individual Sikhote-Alin Meteorite with a rare natural hole which made it ideal for use as a pendant. Geoff Notkin acquired the outstanding specimen directly from the finder and realized it was an excellent rock for fashioning into a unique adornment for a necklace, so he commissioned Lisa Morrison, a noted Silversmith, to make one. With a Silver stamped medallion and handmade fittings, this pendant was worn by Notkin personally for many years and appeared numerous times being worn by him during the filming of his television series Meteorite Men. The metallic mass weighs 43 grams and has both amazing shape and abundant regmaglypts. This represents a major way to connect with Notkin and his collection, affording a "lucky someone" an opportunity to wear the wire cord necklace with the dynamic meteorite.
Measurements: 1.41 x 0.96 x 0.76 inches (3.57 x 2.45 x 1.92 cm), weighs 42.7 grams

Provenance: The Geoff Notkin Collection
