The present work was commissioned for the 1984 Olympic Games by the US postal service and is published on pages 26-27 of Golden Moments: A Collection of United States 1984 Commemorative Olympic Issues. The work depicts three-time Olympic gold medalist and freestyle swimmer Debbie Meyer, at the 1968 Mexico City Games. Meyer went on to finisher her career with 24 American records and 19 AAU national championships. She taught swimming for years, opening the Debbie Meyer Swim School.
