The set of three rectangular caddies on stepped base, sliding domed tops with gadrooned border, shell shaped hinged handle, the dome with engraved scroll decoration, each face finely engraved with shaped shell and leaf borders, the fronts with contemporary engraved armorial. In contemporary carved mahogany fitted velvet lined case with silver handle, escutcheons, lock plate and four ball and claw feet.

The arms are those of Monckton impaling da Costa Villareal, for William Monckton, second Viscount Galway, and his wife Elizabeth, daughter of Joseph da Costa Villareal of Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.


Condition Report*: The silver:  overall excellent condition with very minor surface scratching and rubbing to engraving.  Minor wear to case.
