A CONTINENTAL AMBOYNA AND TORTOISESHELL CABINET ON STAND

The cabinet with geometric inlay of amboyna wood framed with ebonized bands to two front doors and side panels, pierced and chased brass hinges and escutcheons, ebonized plinth and crown molding, the two doors open to an ebonized interior with tortoiseshell fronted door and drawers, drawers with geometric inlaid floors and lion head pulls, central interior door with architectural frame work and arched tortoiseshell panel flanked by raised columns, central door opens to compartment with checkerboard floor in ivory and ebonized wood with seven tortoiseshell fronted drawers with inlaid floors, drawer above central drawers with brass balustrade flanked with urn finials, below arched door a drawer that extents to the right, at either side a false panel with gilt base and capital when removed reveals compartment running height of cabinet with two drawers at base. The later base with two central drawers is also inlaid with amboyna and ebonized wood, the bulbous turned legs tied by stretcher supported on ball feet.


Condition Report*: The cabinet is in excellent condition with minor scratches and nicks, but no loss of material.  There are scratches to the top. The base has surface nicks and scratches commensurate with age.
