A Cased Seibert Compound Monocular Microscope, circa 189011-1/2 inches high (29.2 cm) (base, not extended, excluding eyepiece)
PRIVATE WEST COAST COLLECTION
The microscope having SEIBERT on back of body tube; serial number 5832 on case and magnification chart. Continental horseshoe foot, "C" shaped pillar support, fine focus knob on bottom of pillar, parallelogram attachment of body tube to pillar. No inclination. Triple nose piece (detent spring is broken), rectangular stage with push-in holder for condenser and 3 stops (no condenser), blued steel stage clips, plano-concave swinging mirror. 3 eye-pieces: "0", "I", "II"; 4 objectives in a separate leatherette covered box, all lacquered brass signed, "SEIBERT": "No. I", "No. II", "No. III" & "No. V". ; small calibration slide; camera lucida; original box of round and square cover slips; adapter to convert Seibert (Hartnack) objective lenses to RMS threads. Stand is lacquered brass, except stage and parallelogram arms with nearly 100% of lacquer present on outer surfaces. Body extension tube shows wear. Fitted chest-type case & key, case marked with matching serial number.
