Fine Gemstone: Spessartine Garnet - 12.51 Ct.
Nani Hill, Loliondo, Ngorongoro District, Arusha Region, Tanzania

Not long ago "Nani Hill" did not exist, but with the discovery of giant Spessartine Garnets "in the middle of Nowhere" and the ensuing 'Garnet rush,' the local Massai bestowed the name on the new village that sprang up there overnight. Only a few of the Garnets found there had 'clean' areas that would furnish facet grade material. The Garnet that provided the rough for this stone was found there in 1999, after which it was cut in a square cushion style in nearby Arusha. Eye clean transparency, and the good proportions, accentuates the deep, orange color gemstone.
Measurements: 12.10 x 12.04 x 9.49 mm, 12.51 cts.
