This is a prolific and exceptionally colorful specimen of the extremely rare raspberry-red Grossular known exclusively from the Sierra de Cruces region. Sharp dodecahedral crystals, some reaching up to 1.6 centimeters across, are scattered across a highly contrasting tannish-white matrix and display pleasantly translucent interiors. Under shortwave UV light, the underlying matrix shows a soft yellow-white fluorescence, adding an attractive secondary feature to the piece.
