Green Ponds depicts the panoramic view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains as seen from the back door of Sharp's studio in Taos, New Mexico. Never before offered on the open market, the painting is from the collection of the famous Taos family of Weimer Gusdorf, one of the first German-Jewish merchants in Taos, settling in the valley in the 1870s.
