Description
CERUSSITE with HISTORYFlux Mine, Harshaw Dist., Patagonia Mts., Santa Cruz Co, Arizona, USA
This is a classic and historic "jackstraw" group of Cerussite needles on dark limonitic matrix, typical of the Flux Mine. There are single needles up to 2 inches (5 cm) in length. Matrix specimens are quite a bit less common than the "loose" variety and this one has a bit of history attached to it. In 1968 it was part of the collection of George Bideaux, father of Richard Bideaux, author and mineralogist in his own right. Post Bideaux, it spent 1972-1980 in the J. Gordon Collection, and from 1908 to 1988 it resided in the J. Randall Collection. This is a fairly sizable cabinet specimen that is in excellent condition especially given its age and history.
Overall measurements: 9.38 x 3.88 inches (24 x 9.8 cm). Offered at no reserve.
Provenance: Jendon Minerals [Hoppel Catalog # D1932]
[Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
