Prince Nikita Alexandrovich was educated at home, and then, like his father before him, enrolled at the Naval Academy, where he studied the core curriculum. The offered lot contains a portion of work that he did as a cadet, including carefully drawn maps of parts of the Russian empire and foreign lands, and an interesting group of renderings of ships of the Russian fleet in silhouetted profile; these exercises were practiced so that at sea, any ship could be recognized from its outline alone.
