This rather stout Campo Del Cielo Meteorite weighs in at a hearty 15 lbs. (6.8 kg). The solid mass has a surface full of relatively shallow but rather large regmaglypts covering the entire uneven surface. Smaller dots further pepper the rough surface which all bring a rust stained coloration to the skin which is the classic dark brownish-black hue otherwise. This extremely aesthetic example has a severely prominent "hook" as a promontory curves back over a major indentation in the iron visitor from Outer Space. The Campo Del Cielo Meteorite was found as far back as the 16th Century and likely fell some 4,000 to 5,000 years ago in what is today Argentina. This is a popular and abundant variety of Meteorite, but this really impressive specimen is most definitely not typical or common. This treasure has both aesthetic appeal and nice size.
