Description
Woolly Mammoth Tusk RoundsMammuthus primigenius
Pleistocene
Alaska, USA
4.57 x 3.67 x 0.61 inches (11.61 x 9.31 x 1.55 cm)
At first glance, this natural disk resembles a slice of Petrified Wood-but it is, in fact, a polished cross-section of a Woolly Mammoth tusk. Sourced from Alaska, the piece features a creamy, light-toned interior bordered by a distinctive, bark-like outer rind. Fracture lines within the tusk have been stabilized with a dark black filler, creating bold visual contrast and highlighting the organic structure of the material. The result is a highly aesthetic and scientifically significant specimen that captures both the natural beauty and "Ice Age" legacy of this extinct giant.
