Australia may not be the first locality that comes to mind for Petrified Wood. Under magnification, there are actually small, hair-like growths that can be seen between each segment. This particular Pentoxylon has five segments and exhibits a unique "bottle" shape with a well-polished surface with a colorful "star" pattern. This species is not usually offered for sale and a similar piece was last seen on the market nearly 10 years ago! This is a fantastic piece that will likely not be offered again soon.
