Out of the renowned Pierre Shale Formation, of South Dakota, this colorful representation of a Baculite consists of a long, nearly 6-inch section of the straight-shelled nautiloid which exhibits Opalescence-like iridescence and wonderfully preserved complex suture patterns on the reverse. This is a nicer Baculites with good color, pattern, and duality which combine to represent the iconic variety in very fine fashion.
