Still partially embedded in matrix, this Mosasaur tooth presents a bold profile with excellent enamel preservation and natural coloration. The glossy crown displays subtle ridges and curvature, characteristic of the powerful aquatic predators that patrolled Late Cretaceous seas. The remnant matrix around the base provides a stable, visually appealing display and highlights the original fossil context. Mosasaurs were apex marine reptiles, related to modern monitor lizards, with some species reaching lengths over 50 feet (15 meters). This tooth from a Mosasaurus beaugei is a beautifully large and well-preserved example from one of the ancient ocean's most dominant prehistoric hunters.
