Red gemstones really are something special indeed, but such examples often can look unusually dark or not showcase 'true' color. In this case, this exceptional 6.18-carat Rhodolite Garnet is definitely the "real deal" and offers a wonderful oval cut and an appealing very slightly purplish red coloration. Accented beautifully by brilliant facets on the crown and the pavilion, this great gem is in good condition with numerous inclusions, including strain halos and irregular, rounded crystals of low relief that do break the surface. There are also a few nicks to some facet junctions and one to the girdle however, this wonderful stone would really shine if set into custom jewelry.
