Susie Rose Youree Lloyd was a Dallas socialite, philanthropist, and an unforgettable eccentric. Many stories have followed her. Some could be urban legend, but each reveals a tale of an unforgettable woman. One such story tells of Rose mistakenly having received the Dallas annual budget. Reading it as a tax bill, she sent a check for the full amount!

Rose was an active part of Dallas society. She participated in a wide range of clubs, and played golf at both the Brook Hollow Golf Club and the Dallas Country Club. Supporting the arts was a passion, and to that end she served on the boards of both the Dallas Symphony and Dallas Civic Opera.

Rose Lloyd, together with her husband Alfred Tennyson Lloyd, created one of Dallas's landmark homes in 1915, hiring Herbert Greene (who also designed the Belo Mansion) to design their home at 4101 Beverly Drive, on 6.6-acre lot which lays at the southeast corner of Preston and Beverly Drive. Many lavish parties and club meetings took place in their elaborate Italianate villa, and the silver to follow would have glistened on her table. Many of these lots are inscribed with her initials RYL (Rose Youree Lloyd), her mother's monogram BSY (Bette Scott Youree), and simply L for Lloyd.
