PROPERTY FROM A SOUTHERN COLLECTION

The tureen, oval in form, with cast and applied turtle-form finial atop stepped and domed cover, rounded at top to mimic the shape of the turtle's shell, the body with two turned cylindrical handles surmounted by cast and applied turtles, a cast decorative band to rim, and engraved cartouche with foliate and floral sprays to either side, supported by an oval foot. Originally retailed by Ball, Black & Co., New York, New York.
