Estate of Mildred Hedrick Fender, Fort Worth, Texas
The oval tureen with naturalistic cast oak leaf and acorns to waisted domed cover and tureen set upon four scrolling feet of with finely chased foliage, two effacing foliate scrolls form handles to tureen and oval tray, each with gadroon and shell rim, the fluted tray resting on four scroll and shell feet.
Engraved arms to either side of tureen and tray, with crest to either side of lid are those of Duncombe impaling Legge for Charles Duncombe (1764-1841), first son and heir of Charles Slingsby Duncombe (d. 1803); created Baron Feversham of Duncombe Park, Yorkshire July 14, 1826. He was married on 24 September 1795 to Charlotte (1774-1848), daughter of William Legge, 2nd Earl of Dartmouth. High Sheriff for Yorkshire in 1790, he was MP for Shaftesbury from 1790 to 1796, for Aldborough from 1796 to 1806, for Heytesbury from 1812 to 1818 and for Newport, Isle of Wight from 1818 to 1826.
According to notes on a related tureen in the V&A collection, the tureen's design is attributed to Edward Hodges Baily (1788-1867) based on a drawing also in the collection of the V&A. Baily worked for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell from 1815, becoming their chief modeler in 1826.
Portions of Lord Feversham's silver dinner service by Rundell, Bridge & Rundell were sold at Christie's, London, May 25, 1937 and May 17, 1967. An related covered tureen on stand sold at Sotheby's, New York, Return to elegance: The Star Collection, October 20, 2020, lot 21.
 Condition Report*:
 The tureen and stand present well with pushes to and above crest to one side, the four connecting screws between tureen feet and stand are missing, liner with uneven surface indicating use, the engraving and fine chasing remain crisp.
