Description
Petrified Conifer BoxStone Source: Arizona, USA
Artist: Konstantin Libman
This exquisite custom lapidary box has been masterfully hewn from Araucarioxylon arizonicum, the famed conifer "Rainbow" Wood of Arizona-one of the most visually striking and highly prized varieties of Petrified Wood. The rectangular box highlights the quintessential spectrum of colors for which this fossilized wood is so celebrated-rich reds, golden yellows, deep purples, and soft earth tones, each a testament to the natural mineralization process that preserved this prehistoric tree over 200 million years. Scattered across the perfectly book-matched surface, delicate pockets of colorless drusy microcrystalline Quartz glisten, adding a subtle yet captivating shimmer that enhances the overall visual complexity. A highly polished finish brings out the full depth of the wood's intricate cellular structure pattern, ensuring every detail is on full display. The interior is lined with finely inlaid Spanish Cedar, providing both a luxurious fragrance and removable customization, allowing the owner to reveal a solid black stone interior beneath. The lid is secured with brass hinges, while the base is crafted from black Diabase (Dolerite), chosen for its sleek, glistening effect. The bottom is fitted with felt feet, ensuring both stability and protection for delicate surfaces. Accompanied by a black felt-lined presentation box, this remarkable piece is as functional as it is collectible. A truly one-of-a-kind offering, this highly decorative specimen is perfect for display, personal keepsakes, or everyday use, showcasing the ancient beauty of Petrified Wood in a refined and most sophisticated form.
