The crown features modified brilliant faceting, while the pavilion is refined with step-cut facets, creating very good brilliance and a highly saturated hue with good polish luster. A strong pinkish purple bodycolor dominates the stone, a hallmark of this variety. Originating from the famed Pamir Mountains of Tajikistan, this Spinel hails from one of the most historically revered localities in gemological history. Nestled in the rugged terrain of these remote mines, Tajikistan has been known since antiquity as a legendary source of "Balas Rubies"-a term once used to describe Spinel so vivid that they rivaled the finest Rubies. These mines were a prized source of gemstones for emperors, tsars, and sultans across Persia, India, and Russia.
