The combination of shape and texture in this example of Libyan Desert Glass really is sublime. The sizable specimen weighs a stout 848.1 grams, and this exceptional form stands 5.5 inches (14 cm) in a vertical orientation, which it securely can do without need of any base. Although quite thick and dimensional, the impactite is still highly translucent and is simply spectacular from both sides and even the bottom which has a couple of cavernous holes. As far as "LDG" specimens go, this is a nice example with rich, consistent coloration and a most unique "notch" in the midsection of this piece that was the result of a meteorite impacting the Earth and creating this great form of natural glass.
