Description

Gibeon Meteorite
Iron, IVA
Great Nama Land, Namibia - (25° 30'S, 18° 0'E)
Found: 1836

Beyond impressive and unique, this Gibeon Meteorite checks all the boxes and then a few more. A most noteworthy attribute is the relatively enormous crater centrally located on the exquisite rock from space. Gibeon material is considered some of the very best of the Iron variety, for aesthetics and stability. The incredibly deep "scallop" in this superb offering makes the natural specimen an amazing work of sculptural art, and it could likely be functional, providing a home for other objects. Weighing a very significant 6.3 kilograms (14 pounds), this consummate display piece exhibits the ideal coloration and texture over the entirety of the representation, which even has somewhat of a flat bottom that allows the iconic individual to rest securely for presentation without needing any kind of a base. There are not enough superlatives to describe this extraterrestrial treasure, which is sure to stand as a cornerstone in any collection of top-quality meteorites - and especially of Irons.
Measurements: 7.48 x 6.69 x 4.33 inches (19.00 x 17.00 x 11.00 cm), weighs 6.3 kilograms (14 pounds)
