The pairing of Fluorite and Celestite from Clay Center has a unique color, a warm, bright brown, which gives these specimens the nickname of "Root Beer Fluorite," due to the resemblance to the popular soda. Cubic Fluorite crystals rest against a white backdrop of white Celestite crystals, which have formed as sharp, tabular blades with a matte texture. The largest of these Fluorites reaches 2.3 centimeters in length. Adding small hints of detail to this specimen are minor scalenohedrons of yellow-to-colorless Calcite. Each crystal of Fluorite has a strong zoning pattern and an excellent, glass-like luster all across the board. This combination of minerals is upheld on a pedestal of white-to-light gray matrix, allowing the specimen to be displayed without the need for a base.
