Astute watchers of the lapidary market over the last decade or so cannot fail to have noticed the meteoric rise in value of Quartz with Rutile inclusions. It matters little if the Quartz is colorless or smoky, if the Rutile is red, brown or golden, if the piece is polished or natural; the assessment is the same: this stuff is hot! Purists view the Holy Grail as being an unpolished crystal with great inclusions visible, but the market is equally hot for polished Objets d'Art as long as the inclusions are there. The smoky treasure sports a veritable forest of Rutile in three dimensions, frozen like Han Solo in Carbonite.
