Description

Azurite Stalactites
Sepon Mine, Savannakhet Prov., Laos

This gorgeous sparkling sculpture of Azurite came out in the early days of minerals coming to the market from Laos, perhaps in 2015 or so, and not since. Noticeably, this style does not turn up on the market often. While other Azurite forms and crystal styles came out later, these seem to have been found at the beginning of the exports here, which have now significantly slowed in any case. It looks like an old Bisbee Azurite form, except that instead of being sparkly, it is "velvety" and has a kind of satin finish to it. It is really quite distinct from any Azurite from other localities. Large and dramatic, this displays wonderfully on a shelf. It was part of the dozen or so Azurite locality suite in this collection, built over decades to display well together and complement each other in style and size. This vibrant example comes with a custom engraved base.
