Description

Denton Cooley Signed Book with Heart Sketch
Harry Minetree
Cooley: The Amazing Career of the World's Greatest Surgeon

This hardcover entitled Cooley chronicles the incredible career of the legendary cardiothoracic surgeon Denton Cooley, MD, credited with performing the first totally artificial heart transplant. Author Henry Minetree dramatically recounts the work of the Lone Star legend, and a subtitle of "The Amazing Career of the World's Greatest Surgeon" summarizes the content of the book in a most compelling manner. The dust jacket features an image of Dr. Cooley in surgical garb and a pair of glasses. The most amazing - and a rather unexpected - bonus of the offering is a sketch of the human heart by the doctor in blue ink signed as "Denton A. Cooley, MD" and dated "9-7-13" along with a Beckett authentication sticker on the tan flyleaf page. The pages of the book have an unevenness to the edges, and the dust jacket is slightly worn. A Beckett Letter of Authenticity with the offering further validates the autograph of the renowned cardiac surgeon by the unique sketch.

New York: Harper & Row, 1973. Sketch, signature, and dated in blue ink by Denton A. Cooley MD on flyleaf page. [Attributes: Signed Copy; Hard Cover; In Dust Jacket; 6 x 8.5 inches; Beckett Authenticated].
