Considered by many to be the "quintessential" American meteorite, Canyon Diablo has long been a favorite of collectors, both serious and novice alike. This Iron is world-renowned and, of course, is associated with the iconic Meteor Crater in Arizona and is also rare for being an impact site with a preserved crater where meteorite fragments have also been found. Weighing a robust 696 grams, this example boasts a sculpturally artistic shape, an attractive, colorful patina, and an overall nice size. Such material has an inherent rugged nature, and this specimen is no exception. With a claw shape, in the abstract, this dimensional representation is a seriously classic "C.D." on all counts.
