A quintessential example of an "Ordinary" Chondrite that is anything but ordinary, this slice of the Aba Panu Meteorite from Oyo, Nigeria, represents the witnessed fall that occurred in 2018. Moreover, the "L3" designation confirms the rarity, given that Aba Panu stands as only one of seven of the variety that has ever occurred in all of meteorite history. This primitive material has the added superlative of dating to the origins of the solar system, making it older than the Earth at an estimated age of 4.56 billion years! Visually striking, this irregular slab with two distinctive areas to its display surface is rather surreal. Weighing a respectable 173.7 grams, this has much to like about it both in mere appearance and certainly in the historical story of how it made it here to Earth. At some 6 inches (15 cm) across, this superb offering has a sublime contrast and an abundance of varied chondrules over its relatively expansive face. The bolide remnant from space is very collectible.
