Description
Polished Turquoise Free-FormBlue Star Mine (Number Eight Mine)
Lynn Mining District, Eureka County
Nevada, USA
Originally a Gold and Copper mining operation, the Number 8 Mine produced some of the highest quality and largest Turquoise nodules between the 1930s and early 1950s. Found concentrated along Quartz veins, this variety of Turquoise exhibits a prized spider web pattern. This sizable nodule features a lovely robin's-egg, or 'Typical Highgrade Number 8' hue with an overall greenish-blue coloration dissected by a captivating and prized rusty brown matrix or 'gold-webbed' pattern.
Renowned for producing some of the finest gold-webbed Turquoise in the world, the mine's Turquoise has been used in both traditional and contemporary Native American jewelry. With a dramatic shape, this fine specimen has been polished and stabilized, the backside remains in its natural state, and the bottom has been cut flat for easy installation. Weighing just shy of 1,225 grams and nearly 7 inches (18 cm) in size, this spectacular nodule represents rare and no longer produced prized material.
Measurements: 6.93 x 5.91 x 2.28 inches (17.60 x 15.00 x 5.79 cm), weighs 1,224.5 grams
