Calcite can occur with a wide variety of inclusions, but seldom do they provide the same unique color and appearance as inclusions of Native Copper. The scalenohedral crystals in this specimen have a sparkling pink hue with a noticeable Copper-red tinge. Cleavage is present across some of the Calcites, one of which is completely recrystallized, revealing pink and white zoning within the specimen's interior. Additionally, one of the overlying Copper growths still holds the original shape of the previously cleaved Calcite crystals. The Copper included in the rest of the specimen provides metallic flashes underneath the Calcite's translucent surface. Copper-included Calcite is virtually exclusive to the Keweenaw Peninsula, a signature combination of this long-mined region.
