This present artwork appears in the October, 1954 issue of Redbook Magazine, illustrating an installment in their serialized publication of Blackboard Jungle. Evan Hunter's groundbreaking novel tackled juvenile delinquency and the broken American public school system as no other work of its time had. Based partially on Hunter's own teaching experience, Blackboard Jungle quickly became a bestseller upon its publication and was soon adapted into an award winning motion picture.
