This illustration features Rolf Armstrong's long-time housekeeper and personal friend "Ma Hoops" with a Hawaiian plumeria tucked behind her ear. Ma Hoops worked in Armstrong's Honolulu and Marblehead homes. She was considered a mother figure to many of his models, most notably Jewel Flowers. This work originates from Mike Woodridge author of The Glamour Art of Rolf Armstrong Pin-Up Dreams. A personal letter from Ma Hoops to Jewel Flowers and a photograph of the artist, Ma Hoops, and models accompanies this lot.
