Five Fertility Dolls

Akuaba, so named in reference to Akua, a woman who had difficulty conceiving. Legend has it that the use of such a doll resulted in the birth of a daughter - thus Akuaba or Akua's baby. These are Fanti versions of the classic disk headed Akuaba in use among the Ashanti.
