Signed, dated, and inscribed lower left: Edwin L. Meadows .PX. / .1866.

Private collection, Dallas, Texas.
Condition Report*:
Lined canvas. Minor frame abrasion at edges. Yellowing to varnish layer. Finely patterned craquelure throughout. A few small losses in upper right and lower right corners, and in upper half of right edge. Faint horizontal line at center in the left side of the work, possibly cause by a previous stretcher bar, no longer extant. Some scattered small dots of discolored accretion, possibly additional varnish, throughout. Not examined out of frame due to size.
Under UV: heavily applied varnish fluoresces green unevenly, somewhat obscuring the picture surface in the lower half of the work. A few scattered small dots and dashes of retouching in the sky. Brushy retouching along lower edge. Some apparent dots and dashes of retouching beneath the varnish layer, appearing to address craquelure and to possibly strengthen details of the horses' tack.
Framed Dimensions 35.25 X 53.25 X 2.5 Inches
