The two salts on scalloped foot rising to shaped oval body with wide undulating rim, the whole with chased repoussé decoration of budded scrolling foliage forming cartouche to front, gilt interior; monogrammed MDC.
LITERATURE:
L. Pristo, Martelé: 950-1000 Fine - Gorham's Nouveau Art Silver, 2002, p. 256.
Six salts were created marked with code 9505, production began on December 7, 1899 and required 12 hours to produce and an additional 12 hours of chasing by Walter H. Host. The final price was $180.00.
