Collection of Seven Decorative Powder Horns.
Including 1) a large supply powder horn, 24-inch brown horn with swivel ring, brass tip and threaded nut stopper. Hardwood base with formed brass cover. Unmarked. Condition: Very good. Nice age wear and golden brown patina. Some looseness at brass tip. Two small age cracks in body. Brass cover slightly loose and shimmed with black tape. 2) 6-inch contemporary horn with carved black tip. Image of running bear above "C. Roger Swift" signature. Turned hardwood base. Condition: Fine. 3) 8-inch unmarked antique powder horn with carved tip and carved replacement stopper. Flush mounted hardwood base with old steel ring. Condition: Good with some chips and holes. 4) Handsome 9-inch antique powder horn with carved tip and turned hardwood stopper. Decorated with handtooled borders and images of Federal Eagle and a full length image of a Native American with headdress, bow & arrow and buckskin outfit. Flush mounted hardwood base with very old steel ring. Appears original throughout. Condition: Very good. Nice age wear and patina. Minor scuffs to base. 5) A 7 3/4-inch flask with 3-position spring-loaded charger. Both suspension rings present. Obverse with scene of Native American hunting in the woods. [Riling # 993 pg. 379] Condition: Good to very good. Nice age patina throughout. Charger lever absent. Top loose with one stud absent. Scattered light dents. A very good example. 6) 7 1/2-inch flask with single-position spring-loaded charger. Decorated with man and dog hunting scene. [Riling #906 pg. 369] Condition: Fair to good. Nice, deep age patina. Lever is frozen. Deep dents. Split seam. 7) Sykes Rifle Flask. 8 1/4-inch with 3-position spring-loaded charger marked, "SYKES PATENT." Standing seam. [Riling #211 pg. 277] Condition: Fair. Pitting observed at charger. Scattered stains and dents. Split seam at bottom.
