Alton Kelley is a legendary Sixties artist, who in partnership with Stanley "Mouse" Miller formed the celebrated "Mouse Studios" and created some of the best-known album covers and posters of that era. Our consignor tells us that according to artist Alton Kelly, The Grateful Dead intended to use this artwork as a major icon for their 25th anniversary. The band and the artist could not agree on a price for a "blanket use," and therefore, this image was only used "in-house" on stationery, etc., and not for wide-spread commercial purposes.
