Called "the King of the Pulps" for his prolific output, Walter Baumhofer brought his fine art training to dime novels, churning out over 500+ covers including Dime Detective, The Spider, and the earliest issues of Doc Savage. By the late thirties, Baumhofer had graduated to the slick magazines of the era and his work graced all the top publications including Liberty, Collier's and American Weekly.
