Description
RARE FLUORITE & SELENITE ON MATRIXPenfield, Monroe Co., New York, USA
This highly unusual Penfield specimen features a 3 inch long Selenite crystal with a very transparent Fluorite cube that is 1 ½ inches on edge. The Fluorite cube has a light lilac core and light yellow exterior, a colorful complement to the colorless, transparent Selenite. Very impressive specimen for this locality, it is sharp and in exceptionally good condition. Penfield Fluorite specimens are scarce; this extremely fine and desirable example is especially notable because of its size, quality and the unusual companion Selenite. Overall dimensions are 1 ¾ x 4 5/8 x 3 inches and it has a custom labeled base. From the collection of Dick Hauck, of the Sterling Hill Mining Museum, who originally acquired it from Dave Jensen of Ward's Natural Science and author of "Minerals of New York State."
