Description

Beryl var. Aquamarine
Nagar District
Gilgit-Baltistan
Pakistan

Presented on a custom beveled acrylic base with an "old school" black engraved description, this simply exquisite Aquamarine on a Muscovite matrix is a big-time mineral specimen. The blue variety of Beryl, in this case, consists of one primary terminated "enormous" crystal, flanked by numerous, smaller crystals. The light blue coloration is not highly saturated, resulting in the material being very gemmy. With nice overall aesthetics, especially the relationship of the crystals to one another and the "Aqua" to the matrix, this is a major collector grade example from the renowned Nagar District of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan, which is well-known to serious collectors. This is a mineral worthy of a major collection display case and shows quite nicely from multiple angles. The translucent crystals are top-notch, and the piece is a classic representation of the popular material from a truly iconic locality. The visual impact of the stacked lesser crystals, the drama and color of the major termination, and the contrasting matrix all result to make this one collectible association. The big crystal is massive - measuring some 4 inches (10 cm) across.
Measurements: 5.31 x 4.80 x 3.94 inches (13.50 x 12.20 x 10.00 cm)
