This substantial orb has been cut and polished from a massive piece of ancient Petrified Wood. This sphere was hewn from an ancient conifer tree which died nearly 56 million years ago. The tree's internal structure has been preserved by way of permineralization, and its organic material replaced by earth toned minerals. This fossilization process allows this type of material to be created into amazing pieces of lapidary art. The tree's, now visible, internal patterning is on full display with swirling sections of hypnotic creams, burnt orange and browns mixed together as if in motion. This highly decorative object is in excellent condition and is a great representation of prized Petrified Wood from Nevada.
