Minerva No. 1 Mine, Ozark-Mahoning group, Cave-In-Rock Mining Sub-District, Hardin County, Illinois, USA
13.8 x 10.3 x 7.6 cm (5.43 x 4.06 x 2.99 in)

Heftier Baryte specimens like this piece are not encountered very often from this locality; they are more commonly seen in smaller examples or as secondary associations on Fluorite. This specimen displays sweeping Baryte blades arranged in loosely floral groups across the top of the matrix. The crystals are opaque to translucent and predominantly white, with a subtle bluish tint visible in many of the blades.

From the collection of Daniel "Dan" R. Kennedy.
