El Paso-born artist Monica Aissa Martinez merges science and spirituality through highly detailed paintings exploring human and animal anatomy. With an MFA from New Mexico State University, Martinez's mixed-media works are in major museum collections, including the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the Phoenix Art Museum. Her process begins with anatomical drawings that evolve through layers of vibrant abstraction-representing blood flow, organs, and cellular structures as metaphors for interconnected life. Her art invites reflection on the unity of body, mind, and universe.
