Tony G. Olvera grew up in Phoenix and found refuge in art amid a challenging environment marked by gangs and violence. Self-taught from an early age, he began tattooing friends in the late 1990s and completed an apprenticeship by 2001. His practice centers on emotional depth and technical precision, especially in black-and-grey tattoos, though he works across styles. Olvera views his art as a permanent expression of connection and memory, focusing on improving his craft daily and finding fulfillment in clients' pride in his work rather than traditional notions of success.
