PROVENANCE:
Private collection, San Jose, California.
Condition Report*:
On stable, beveled panel support. Mild frame abrasion at edges. Some yellowing to the varnish layer. Very faint craquelure, with minor pigment separation affecting the brown jacket of the rightmost boy. Scattered small dots of discolored accretion. Minor surface dust.
Under UV: heavily applied varnish fluoresces green unevenly, somewhat obscuring the picture surface. Some scattered retouching to the foliage in the upper half of the work. A few apparent instances of more finely applied retouching to some costume elements.
