Condition Report*:
Unlined canvas. Some minor buckling to canvas at corners, most apparent under raking light. Yellowing to the varnish layer, most notably in lower half of work. Two pinholes at right edge in upper right corner. Several small tears to canvas, most notably in the background in upper right quadrant, and two affecting the figure's forehead and hair. A few additional small dots of surface abrasion and minor loss scattered throughout. Not examined out of frame.
Under UV: heavily applied varnish fluoresces blue/green unevenly. Brushy at upper edge and in background in upper left quadrant. Some modern pigments comprising the shadows of the face and hair fluoresce.
