Rapport d'Expertise "Affaire Tchaikovsky" Parts I-IV; typewritten Expert Report on the Case of "Madame Tchaikovsky", claimant to the identity of the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna, Published by the Institut de Police Scientifique de l'Université de Lausanne, 14 February, 1927

Bischoff, Marc (Director of the Lausanne Institut de Police Scientifique from 1920-1963) autograph and typewritten folios (signed), (22) full pages (15 x 10 in, 380 x 255 mm.) in four parts in three folios, each dated 14 February 1927, 15 October 1927, and 5 July 1928, each signed, being a refutation of the attempts of "Madame Tchaikovsky" to assume the identity of the deceased Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, commissioned by Pierre Gilliard, former tutor to the Imperial children.

PROVENANCE:
Pierre Gilliard;
Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna;
Prince Nikita Alexandrovich;
Prince Alexander Nikitch Romanoff;
Princess Maria Romanoff.

This is an unusual and complete Imperial copy of the forensic report by Marc Bischoff, Director of the Lausanne Institut de Police Scientifique, from 1927 and 1928, findings indicating that "Madame Tchaikovsky" (later known as Anna Anderson) was not the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia. This report was later published in part by Pierre Gilliard, former tutor to the Imperial children, in his 1929 book "La Fausse Anastasie".

Though various copies of this report are known to exist, this is the only complete set to be offered at auction. These copies were presented to Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna by Pierre Gilliard, and descended directly in the family.
